Jess here with a card featuring my new favorite Lawn Fawn stamp set, Lovable Legends! I can't stop playing with these stamps...Nessie and the Kraken are SO cute!! A few days ago I was looking at the stamp set and thought it'd be fun to make an interactive "spinning" card with the Kraken! I decided to make a birthday card to celebrate Lawn Fawn's 6th birthday!
To create my card I stamped the Kraken in versafine and heat-embossed him with clear embossing powder. Then I used my Scan N Cut to cut him out with a slight border. I colored him with copics and added some accents with googly eyes and a white gel pen. Next I adhered two pennies and foam mounting dots to the back of the Kraken to create my spinning piece. The order of elements on the back of the Kraken is: Kraken, foam mounting dot, penny, thin foam mounting dot, penny and the track will go in between the pennies.
Then I used the Ocean Waves border dies to die-cut several blue patterned papers from Lawn Fawn to create depth in my ocean. I stamped the sentiment onto the darkest paper and heat-embossed it with white embossing powder. I used a spinner die to create my wavy track but you could use a craft knife to cut that shape. I carefully bent the paper slightly so that I could insert the spinning Kraken and then used (cough) six layers of foam tape to put my card together. The dark blue sky and light blue polka dot layer are adhered together with regular adhesive. Then there is a double layer of foam tape adhering the diagonal polka dot layer which allows room for the back of the spinning element. There are four layers of foam tape adhering the dark blue checkerboard paper to the card which allows the front of the spinning Kraken to move freely (the googly eyes and foam mounting dot adds thickness to the front of the spinning Kraken).
Finally I stamped the tiny ship with versafine, heat embossed it with clear powder, colored it with copics and fussy cut it. I adhered it to the top of the waves with foam mounting tape and I love how it gives the Kraken even more depth! When you hold the card and tilt it the weight of the pennies will cause the Kraken to spin from left to right! This is definitely not a card that would be easy to send in the mail (due to the six layers of foam tape) but the fun spinning element makes the extra postage worth it! ;)
