Play Along With Us!

It's Lizzy here, with the Facebook Inspiration Team.  I wanted to remind you that our current challenge, Clean and Simple, will be ending soon!  In case you need a little extra inspiration to play along, here is my version of a clean and simple Lawn Fawn card:

My inspiration for this card came from one of the patterns in the new Hello Sunshine paper pack.  I love that Lawn Fawn includes coordinating stamps for many of their paper patterns, so it's easy to replicate the pattern onto a card.  The banner was made with the Hello Sunshine stamp set.  I used the largest stitched scallop die to make the bottom of the card and the sentiment is from Year Two.

I hope you'll play along with us!  Our sponsor is Lawn Fawn!

Thanks for stopping by!

Congrats Card

Hey, it's Lizzy here with the Facebook Inspiration Team!  I was really loving the theme to our current challenge, so I decided to dust-off my unloved pigment inks and make a card.

Don't you just love the new Penelope's Blossoms stamp set?  I utilized the ghost stamping technique and first stamped the floral bunch in white pigment ink and then stamped over with various colors of pigment ink.  I thought a little shading with some colored pencils would really bring the flowers to life, so I dusted those babies off too!

I also used the coordinating banner and sentiment stamps to complete my card.  Super easy!  So easy, in fact, that I may just use the design to make a card set in the future.

I hope you'll join us in the fun!  You have until Feb. 26 to enter the challenge

Sunflower Card + VIDEO

Hey!  It's Lizzy with the Facebook Inspiration Team.  I'm here to share a card that makes  the most out of stamp sets by using both the solid and outline sides of the stamp.

I used one of my favorite Lawn Fawn stamp sets (Our Friendship Grows) and some fun distress products to create this watercolor motif card....and I made a video showing my process:

This card is a little different than the type of card I normally make, but I think it's fun to try new looks and to grow creatively.  I hope you like it :)

Felt Wine Tags: A Photo Tutorial

Hey!  It's Lizzy from the Facebook Inspiration Team.  Can you believe Christmas is tomorrow? Are you ready??  In case you need a small last minute gift for someone in your life, here's a quick gift idea for you:

No-Sew Felt Wine Tags

These are super easy (and very quick!) to make.  I think they would make a lovely hostess gift.  Here's how:

Supplies: Felt (at least 2 colors), Glossy Accents, scissors, hole punch, metal rings, dies, a die-cutting machine
For this project, I used Lawn Fawn's coordinating dies for A Birdy Told Me.  I thought the little circle speech bubble could pass for an ornament and the star die included in the set was the perfect little touch to go inside the tags.  I found the round metal rings in the jewelry section at Michaels.

Start by die cutting 6 tags of each color (I'd already made 1 complete red tag, so that's why you only see 4 red)

Die cut the star into 3 red tags and 3 white tags.

Now you should have 3 tags with stars cut out, 3 whole tags, and 3 stars for each color.

Start assembling by using a star from the opposite color and place it into the tag.
Use some glossy accents on a whole tag and glue the 2 sides together.
Use a whole punch and string the metal ring through.  And that's it!

These are SO easy to whip up.  Package the tags into a little box or bag and include a bottle of wine and you have an easy hostess gift in no time!

Thank you so much for stopping by!  From all of us at Lawnscaping, we hope you have a very merry Christmas!

Give Thanks

Happy (almost) Thanksgiving!

It's Lizzy from the Facebook Inspiration Team.  I'm here today to share a quick, homespun themed Thanksgiving card.

I love that Lawn Fawn can be versatile-- it doesn't have to be all about critters (not to say I don't love my critters!).  I'm really loving the folk art look that has been popular lately and I tried to recreate that look with this card.  I used several images from the Peace Joy Love set as the building blocks.  I also thought the flower image from Summertime Charm had a nice folk art look to it, so I used that as well.  I then used a flower from Mother's Day and a snowflake (they can be flowers too!) from Peace Joy Love to fill in the card.  The sentiment is a combination of Milo's ABC's and Summertime Charm.  It was stamped in a crisp black ink to really make it pop from the muted background.  I finished the card by distressing the edges of the front panel with the Tim Holtz distress tool to really add to the homespun look.

This card would be so simple to recreate and would work as a great last-minute card for Thanksgiving!

Thank you for stopping by!  For those who are celebrating, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Pinterest Inspired Challenge Inspiration

Hey There!

It's Lizzy with the Facebook Inspiration Team.  I'm here today to share my card for the current Lawnscaping Challenge: Pinterest Inspired.  This is such a fun challenge and an awesome way to jump start your creativity when you're feeling in a bit of a rut.  I personally could spend hours just scrolling through all that eye-candy!

Here's the beautiful pin that I was inspired by:

I just love the look of the garland, but I was a little dismayed when going through my Lawn Fawn stamps that I didn't have a foliage-type stamp to reproduce this....that is, until I saw the Mother's Day stamp set!

Here's how I used the stem stamp to create the garland:

Trace a circle to use as a template and align the stamp with the line.

Start building the garland.

Build in the opposite direction too.
When it came time to make the card, I thought stamping on a piece of patterned paper would add a little more pizzaz to the card, so here's what I came up with:

I also looked through my stash to find a large, script sentiment and I thought the "You are my Sunshine" stamp from Sunny Skies was perfect.   The paper is part of the Yes Please Amy Tangerine 6x6 paper pad.  A few rhinestones finished off this simple card!

I hope you feel inspired to play along with us this week!  We can't wait to see what you create!

Felt Coasters: A Photo Tutorial

Hey Everyone!

It's Lizzy from the Facebook Inspiration Team.  I'm here today to share how to make some no-sew felt coasters using Lawn Fawn dies.

Here's the how-to:

Supplies: An assortment of  felt, a circle die, smaller dies to go inside the circle,  glossy accents,
scissors, and twine and a hole punch for creating a little package.
Start by die cutting 8 circles (4 of one color and 4 of the other).
This will serve as both the base and top layer of the coasters.
Next, die cut the flamingo from 4 circles (2 yellow and 2 gray).
It should look like this when you're done.
You'll be using the gray flamingo to go inside the yellow circle and
vice versa-- can't waste any precious felt!
Now you could stop here and have some nice looking coasters as is, but I wanted to complicate my life and create a little scene ;)  So here are the instructions for creating a scene that pieces everything together for a flat look:

Next, die cut 4 green "hills" from the long banner die that coordinates with the Good Fortune stamp set.  *As a side note, I tried cutting a hill by hand, but felt doesn't seem to be as forgiving as paper, so I improvised to find the closest thing to a hill die in my stash*

Now, line up the "hill" to where it looks good (I overlapped the flamingo's feet a bit to ground him).
Then line up the circle die with the gray felt, use some low-tack tape to adhere the circle die
to the "hill," and die cut the green felt with the circle die.
The flamingo's feet need to be cut out of the hill, so nest the flamingo die in the center,
tape to the green felt, and die cut.
Now the last step to creating a flat look.  Nest the banner die so that it lines up
with the hill, tape to the gray felt, and die cut.
This is what your felt ends up looking like.
Remember to keep the tiny triangle piece that goes between the flamingo's legs,
because you'll need it once it's time to assemble.
I also wanted to die cut some little hearts to surround the flamingo,
so that's what you're seeing above.
I then took some time to die cut 12 little hearts out of pink felt to insert in the negative space of the circles.  After everything was die cut, it was time to assemble.  I found the easiest way to properly adhere all the top pieces to the bottom of the coaster was to flip it over, glue the back, and lay the back circle on:

Ready to adhere the back piece now.
To package it up, I just die cut another flamingo, punched a hole to string it onto the twine, and tied it up!

So there you have it!  An easy way to make no-sew coasters!

This is such a fun project and perfect as a little gift for the upcoming holidays.  The different coaster possibilities are really endless-- I personally can't wait to get my little hands on Lawn Fawn's new leaf dies so I can make fall-themed coasters.

I'd love to see what you guys create!  Leave a link to your project in the comments below so we can see what you've made!

So, let me introduce you to our new Facebook Inspiration Design Team and a little bit about them in their own words..... Here we go...........

I am a wife to my high school sweetheart, and am a stay-at-home mom to our four rambunctious little kids.  I've been paper-crafting for about 15 years and love it to bits.  I love Jesus, cookies and Harry Potter, and living room dance parties with my kids.

Aloha from sunny Hawai! My name is Lizzy Criman and I live on the beautiful island of Oahu with my husband, dog, and two cats.   I’m a nurse practitioner by day (and evening, and sometimes night too), and, when I’m not out exploring my surrounds, you’ll find me stamping away.  My mom got me addicted in the summer of 2012 while my husband was away with the Army—and I was never quite able to kick the habit when he got back.  I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining the Lawnscaping Facebook Inspiration Team, and hope you will follow along with my adventures at thishausofcards.blogspot.com

Hello! My name is Tracy and I am currently going to college for Graphic Design and working part-time at a local scrapbooking store.  I started scrapbooking when I was in high school and card-making about 3 years ago.  When I’m not crafting, I enjoy spending time with my family, rollerblading, playing tennis, and shopping.

Hi, my name is Samantha! I have always had a love for crafting, fine art, and design. When creating projects, I really love making scenes that tell a story by coloring stamped images and using fun embellishments and paper.

Hi! My name is Kari Webster and I live in Southern Missouri but I am originally from Central Arkansas.  I am happily married to my husband Chris for 6 years, and we are "mom and dad" to our two cats, Katie and Daisy :) By day, I work at our local hospital where I am the "Release of Information/Legal Correspondent" which basically means I am the one that patients, attorney's, insurance companies etc. come to me when they need medical records on a patient.   I've been crafting since August of 2009. It all started when I went to my first Stampin' Up workshop, and that is all it took!  Before too long, I took over my husband's computer room and turned into my craft room!!  (He didn't mind *grin*)  I absolutely love this hobby of paper crafting.  It is wonderful stress reliever for me!   I am super excited to have this opportunity to be on the Lawnscaping Facebook Inspiration Team!!  It is an honor to be among this group of ladies and their talent! I have loved Lawnscaping for a long time, and since I have been a participant, I always tried entering into a challenge, so to be a designer for them is beyond awesome for me!!  I hope to inspire you with my creations!!  You can come visit me at my blog at www.kwcarddesign.com

I am a SAHM with three sweet girls (3, 9 and 13). My fiancĂ© Mike is American and we live in Austria near Vienna. We do enjoy both worlds. Our furry baby is our cat Noah. Besides crafting I love to read, travel, enjoy coffee, MAC make-up, do a little gardening and just have fun!

Hi! I'm Lenny.  I'm an enthusiastic teacher. I teach French and my students are 12 - 14 years old. It isn't always easy, it can be stressy and I have a lot of school work,  but I always wanted to teach and I'm still loving it!! Whenever I have some free time, I wanna do something creative; it relaxes me!  Creative things that I love: scrapbooking, card making, floral arranging, baking, ...  I also love reading, traveling, gardening, going to the movies, ...  Really, really happy to be part of this Lawnscaping team!!  It's a crafty wish come true! :)  I love spending time with family and friends. Daydreaming about meeting some of my crafty friends in real life ...  I live in Belgium but my #1 favorite country is the USA!!
About 20 years ago, our school did an exchange with an American school and
I fell in love with that beautiful country ... I just love it over there! :)

Hi, I'm Samantha Mann and I couldn't be happier to be part of this team! My husband and I have lived all over the US, from Washington State to Florida, but we're currently in hot, humid, coastal South Carolina! We have two little boys (who I usually call my little menn)! I have always been in love with school supplies (ever since elementary school when i would save my nickels to buy cute pencils or erasers!) and that love just grew and developed into my crazy obsession (read: passion!) of paper crafting! I love making cards and even dabble with the occasional scrapbook layout! I tend to lean towards clean and simple design, but not always! I am all about learning new techniques from fellow crafters! I'm definitely quirky, and love to make playful, humorous sentiments for my cards (and layouts!)! I work full time for an advertising company and spend every other moment I can paper crafting, reading and enjoying the little moments in everyday family life.

Heading up this amazing extension to the family is DT Member/Social Media Coordinator Jenn Shurkus.

Woo hoo! How exciting is this?!? These wonderful ladies will begin to inspire us in July! So be sure to follow us on Facebook and check back here for their dedicated posts to the blog!!!!!

Oh, and how about a shout out to Jenn for redesigning the blog?!?  It looks incredible. Do I have an amazing team put together or what! :)
