a JOY-ful sentiment

hello! samantha m here again! and it's my lucky day! today i'm sharing another project on the lawnscaping blog! it's a monthly honor and highlight for me!! :)

today i'm piggy-backing on the challenge that just ended, which was all about sentiments! (and let's face it, we use sentiments on almost every card we make, right? so we might as well make them stand out!)

so here's my card - with a one word sentiment that is standout and FUN!

fun, right?! that little yeti is definitely becoming one of my all time, go-to, favorite lawn fawn stamp images! (right along with the doxie from critters at the park and the little fire and cookies and milk from cozy christmas!) he just looks like he's shouting good news from the mountain tops! i love it! he's from the stamp set, yeti set go! :)

so anyway, to make my sentiment STANDOUT i used some embossing paste and used it with some stencil's i created from the quinn's abc's dies! easy and FUN!!  (i also went over the embossing paste on my card with some white enamel to increase the shine and pop of white).

the yeti and trees were all paper pieced and (some) trees and the yeti were popped up over the woodgrain background. oh yeah, for the backgrounnd, i heat embossed in white the woodgrain image (from woodgrain backdrops) and then distressed it in two colors of brown.

ok, so, i LOVE the embossing paste - i'm trying really hard not to use it on every card, people! that's how much i love it! :)

here is a quick little tutorial on how i created the sentiment:

step 1:
die cut the sentiment from quinn's abc's dies, in the position you want your sentiment

step 2:
tape down your newly created stencil from the negative of the die cut, over your card

step 3:
smear embossing paste (the FUN part!)

step 4:
lift up the stencil and let dry

and vwa-la! your custom sentiment is complete and poppin! :)

so that's it! i can't wait to see you try this technique! :) if you do, leave a comment with your blog address! i would LOVE to see your creation! and stand by for monday, you're going to want to get your lawn fawn stamps out for a brand new challenge, right here
enjoy!
