One Layer Fall and Christmas Cards

Hello everybody, Heidi here, welcome to the Lawnscaping Challenge blog. We are currently having our Lawnscaping Challenge No. 114 "One Layer Cards", sponsored by Lawn Fawn. If you haven't enter it, you can do it HERE
To inspire you to participate, I had created couple of one layer cards, one for fall and one for Christmas. One layers cards are great for mailing, and also can be quickly made. So here are the cards that I made, I hope you'll enjoy them and enter this challenge, I can't wait to see all your creations

For this card I sued the "into the woods" the leaves were from the "Happy harvest" and the banner from "bannerific" stamp sets by Lawn Fawn. I used a little bit of masking and I finished the card with some 4mm sequins.

For this card I got inspired on a card that I made back in July, however it wasn't a one layer card nor a Christmas card, but the idea came from that card you can see the card here. For this card I used the "Baaah Humbug" stamp set, some masking, and some subtle ink blending. I used the stitched borders to emboss some decorative border along the left and bottom sides of the card, and finished with some sequins.

Masking is a great way to add dimensions to a one layer card. you can do a lot more complex masking, or you could make simple fast cards to send easily over the mail, the possibilities are endless.

I hoped you enjoyed these cards and that you give them a try. I also hope that you enter the current Lawnscaping Challenge.
Have a wonderful week!

Alpaca Masked Shaker!

Morning friends!!  Jessica here with my first post as part of the Lawnscaping Facebook Inspiration Team and I am so thrilled to be here!  Lawn Fawn was the very first stamp company I discovered online two years ago and every release I fall in love with all of the cute critters and sentiments!!

And this new release is no different...the Winter Alpaca stamp set is adorable!  I knew I wanted to use him for this post!  I decided to combine him with the new Ready, Set, Snow shaker add-on die for a holiday shaker card!

Here's the front of the card:

And here's the inside:
I thought it would be fun to make it seem like he put on a scarf when you open the card!  I created the background by watercoloring distress inks in chipped sapphire, evergreen bough, salty ocean, and tumbled glass onto the background.  I added several layers of color to get a darker background.  I dried it with my heat gun and then added a layer of watered down iridescent medium for a little shimmer and then finished it with paintbrush flicks of picket fence distress ink.  It created a really shimmery, sparkly winter sky!  The alpacas were colored with copic markers and I added a little more iridescent medium to his scarf so it would sparkle when it caught the light!
I assembled the shaker and filled it with sparkling clear sequins and lots of white and clear seed beads in various shimmery shades.  When I stamped the alpaca for the front of the card I used post-it tape to cover up his scarf while I was inking the stamp and then I removed the post-it tape prior to stamping so the scarf didn't stamp.  I created a second distress ink background, sealed the back of the shaker, and adhered it to the front of the card.  I stamped and heat-embossed the sentiments from Winter Alpaca and finished the card with a little teal and silver twine!
Thanks so much for visiting today and I look forward to sharing more Lawn Fawn creations soon!!  Don't forget to check out our first September challenge that starts on Monday and have a fabulous day!
